Supervisor’s Health & Safety and the Law

This course has been designed to not only meet but to exceed the equivalency guideline posted by the Ministry of Labour (Ont) for the mandatory health and safety awareness program for supervisors.  This course reviews the legislation currently covering supervisors, and reviews concepts such as the IRS, competency and leadership. 

This course is ideal for employers wishing to ensure their current supervisory staff complies with the Ministry of Labour mandatory program for supervisors, as well as serving as an ongoing training program for new supervisors, just assuming their supervisory responsibilities. 

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion you will be able to:

  • Use and understand the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations

  • Have in depth knowledge of the duties assigned by the OSHA to the various workplace parties, with emphasis on the duties of the supervisor, as well as the relationship between those duties

  • Understand the rights of all workers, and the role of the supervisor in supporting those rights with emphasis on the right to refuse work process

  • Explain the concept of “competent supervisor”, and apply that concept in making the workplace safer

  • Participate in the recognition, assessment, control of hazards, and the evaluation of those controls, by accessing information about workplace hazards and reviewing the applicable regulations

  • Demonstrate the role of the supervisor as “role model” and workplace health and safety leader

The program is a full day instructor-led program, and can be delivered on site or in sessions open to public registration.  Registration includes all course material.
